Po raz 70. przyznano nagrody Emmy, najważniejsze wyróżnienia
w dziedzinie osiągnięć dotyczących telewizji i małych ekranów (choć dziś się to
już rozmywa). Po nagrodach technicznych, przyszedł czas na główne kategorie.
Tegoroczna edycja nagród Emmy to był wielki i bardzo wyrównany pojedynek HBO i
Netflixa. Za najlepszy serial dramatyczny uznano „Grę o tron” (HBO), wśród
komedii wygrał serial „The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” od Amazona. Za to niemal
całkowicie pominięto w tym roku „Opowieść podręcznej”.
Wśród limitowanych seriali wygrał „The Assassination of
Gianni Versace: American Crime Story”, który otrzymał w sumie kilka wyróżnień (m.in.
najlepszy aktor w miniserialu). Nagrody aktorskie w produkcjach dramatycznych
zdobyli Matthew Rhys za „The Americans” (Zawód: Amerykanin) oraz Claire Foy za „The
Crown”. W komedii wygrali Bill Hader za „Barry’ego” i Rachel Brosnahan za „The
Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”. Występujący w „Grze o tron” Peter Dinklage uznany
został najlepszym aktorem drugoplanowym w serialu dramatycznym, a jego
odpowiedniczką wśród pań jest Thandie Newton za „Westworld”. Nagrody zdobyły
też programy: Saturday Night Live, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver oraz gala
Oscarów. Największym przegranym jest w tym roku serial „Opowieść podręcznej”,
triumfator z roku poprzedniego. Akademia przyznająca nagrody Emmy pominęła też
serial komediowy „Atlanta”.
Tegoroczna edycja nagród Emmy była pod wieloma względami
bardzo ciekawa. Przede wszystkim dlatego, że coraz mocniej do głosu dochodzą
giganci streamingowi. Pytanie więc było zasadne, czy tradycyjne seriale
odchodzą w zapomnienie. Wygląda na to, że jeszcze jest na to za wcześnie. W
pojedynku HBO i Netflixa padł remis, bowiem obaj producenci zdobyli w sumie po
23 nagrody. Jednak ta najważniejsza, dla serialu dramatycznego, trafiła do HBO
a „Gra o tron” zdobyła dziewięć nagród. Na etapie nominacji to Netflix był górą
z 112 nominacjami, a HBO miało ich 108. Nie ma wątpliwości, że rynek małego
ekranu się zmienia.
