Nominacje do Critics Choice dla dokumentów

[Sezon Nagród 2020/2021] Tegoroczny sezon nagród wyglądał będzie zdecydowanie inaczej, od tych z lat poprzednich. Cały system opóźniony jest o kilka miesięcy z powodu Covid-19, niestabilności premier kinowych i gotowości studiów do rywalizacji o najważniejsze nagrody filmowe. Dotyczy to jednak głównie fabuł, inaczej sprawa ma się z dokumentami. Te przechodzą przez 2020 rok zgodnie z planem i właśnie ogłoszono nominacje do pierwszych z nagród, które podsumowują rok w kinie dokumentalnym. To prestiżowe Critics Choice Association Documentary Awards. Są już pierwsi faworyci.

Dokumentalne „Crip Camp”, „Gunda” i „Mr. Soul!” na tym etapie rywalizacji o Critics Choice przewodzą nominacjom mając ich po pięć. Wśród producentów najlepiej w statystykach wypadają Netflix z 31 nominacjami i Neon z 14. Wiele z nominowanych produkcji znanych jest już polskim widzom z seansów na małych lub dużych, głównie festiwalowych, ekranach. Faktem jest bowiem, że o nominacje do Critics Choice Association Documentary Awards zabiegać mogą produkcje, które premiery miały w kinach, telewizji i na platformach cyfrowych.

Organizatorzy nagród podkreślają, że „nominowani reprezentują najlepsze z najlepszych produkcji, w bardzo owocnym dla dokumentów, mijającym roku”. Laureaci tegorocznych nagród ogłoszeni zostaną 16 listopada 2020 roku.

Debiutujący na tegorocznym Sundance „Crip Camp” doceniono za najlepszy dokument, reżyserię, montaż, dokument archiwalny i historyczno-dokumentalny. Debiutujący w Berlinie „Gunga” jest wśród najlepszych dokumentów, nominowano go za reżyserię, zdjęcia, montaż oraz dokument przyrodniczo-naukowy. Trzeci z graczy „Mr. Soul!” to też kandydat do tytułu najlepszego dokumentu, ale doceniono go za debiut w tej dziedzinie, narrację, dokument archiwalny i historyczno-dokumentalny. Po cztery nominacje otrzymały dokumentalne: wyprodukowane przez Netflix „Athlete A”, „Dick Johnson nie żyje” i „My Octopus Teacher” oraz produkcja Neon „Totally Under Control”. Z wyżej wymienionych tytułów, tylko ten ostatni nie znalazł się na liście nominowanych w kategorii Najlepszy Film Dokumentalny.

Kilka z tych produkcji można było obejrzeć podczas niedawnego Docs Against Gravity, kilka dostępnych jest w internecie, na premiery innych w Polsce musimy poczekać.
