[SEZON NAGRÓD 2020/2021] Gildia Scenarzystów Amerykańskich ogłosiła nominacje do swoich dorocznych nagród. To jedne z najważniejszych wyróżnień za oceanem, choć są nimi honorowani tylko twórcy zrzeszeni w WGA. I dlatego w tym roku wśród nominowanych nie ma „Nomadland” i „Manka” oraz animacji „Co w duszy gra”.
Nominacja WGA nie jest niezbędna do zdobycia Oscara czy nominacji Akademii. „Faworyta”, „Rozstanie”, „Artysta”, animacje Pixara to tylko kilka przykładów. W tym roku oprócz wspomnianych trzech filmów nie ma też „Może pora z tym skończyć”, „Pięciu braci”.
Kto więc otrzymał nominacje? Na liście kandydatów są m.in.: nowy film o Boracie, opowieść o Ma Rainey, “News of the World”, “One Night in Miami”, “The White Tiger” w kategorii scenariusz adaptowany. Są więc to dwie produkcje Netfliksa, dwie Amazona i film Universala kupiony przez Netfliksa. W kategorii poświęconej scenariuszom oryginalnym są m.in.: “Palm Springs”, “Sound of Metal” i “The Trial of the Chicago 7”.
