Annie Awards dla "Mitchellowie kontra maszyny”

Nie „Encanto”, nie produkcje Pixara, ale produkcja Columbia Pictures dla Netflixa zatytułowana „Mitchellowie kontra maszyny” zdominowała tegoroczne rozdanie nagród Annie. To najważniejsze wyróżnienia przyznawane animacjom w Hollywood.

Zdobywca głównej nagrody Annie zazwyczaj otrzymuje potem Oscara dla pełnometrażowej produkcji animowanej. Od czasu ustanowienia Oscara w tej kategorii (2001), obie organizacje rozminęły się tylko sześć razy. Po raz ostatni miało to miejsce w 2019 roku, kiedy Annie w głównej kategorii otrzymał „Klaus”, ale Oscara otrzymał „Toy Story 4”. I generalnie Oscary zdecydowanie bardziej lubią produkcje Disneya i Pixara i to dlatego „Encanto” ciągle postrzegane jest za faworyta Oscara dla pełnometrażowej animacji.

Tymczasem tegoroczne Annie Awards zdominowane zostało przez produkcje Netflixa, które otrzymały 20 z 31 nagród. Za najlepszą animację roku uznano „Mitchellowie kontra maszyny” i w sumie film ten zdobył osiem nagród (m.in. scenariusz, efekty, projektowanie postaci, scenografię, aktorstwo głosowe i montaż). W kategoriach telewizyjnych bezkonkurencyjny okazał się serial „Arcane”, który otrzymał dziewięć nagród, w tym za reżyserię, efekty, animację postaci, projektowanie postaci, scenografię, scenariusz, podkładanie głosów i scenariusz.

Animowany duński film dokumentalny „Przeżyć” zdobył nagrodę dla najlepszej animacji niezależnej.
