Organizatorzy tegorocznego Festiwalu Filmowego w Toronto zaprezentowali program swojego wydarzenia. Sporo tytułów z programu festiwalu w Wenecji, ale znacznie więcej amerykańskich propozycji filmowych. Tutaj rozpocznie się wyścig Oscarowy i wielu głównych graczy stawiło się już na linii startu.
Na liście filmów pokazywanych w Toronto znalazły się nowe propozycje m.in. Sama Mendesa, Darrena Aronofsky’ego i Stevena Spielberga. Wraz z Wenecją wydarzenie to dowodzi, że rynek filmowy ma się bardzo dobrze. Oczywiście, sporo tytułów trafi bezpośrednio do internetu, ale i tak kina będą miały sporo atrakcji do zaprezentowania. Dowodzi tego program w sekcjach Galowe Prezentacje i Pokazy Specjalne.
Wśród nowych filmów znajdzie się „Empire of Light” w reżyserii Sama Mendesa, romans którego akcja rozgrywa się w angielskim kinie, gdzieś na wybrzeżu. Główne role grają tutaj Olivia Colman i Colin Firth. Darren Aronofsky powraca z filmem „The Whale” i podobnie, jak w Wenecji pokazane zostaną „Syn” Floriana Zellera oraz nowy film Alejandro Gonzaleza Inarritu. Reginald Hudini zaprezentuje film „Sidney”, dokument o historii Sidneya Poitiera. Rian Johnson w Toronto pokaże swój „Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery”, a Steven Spielberg autobiograficzny „The Fabelmans”. Światową premierę w Toronto będzie miał film Stephena Frearsa „Zaginiony król”, opowiadający o poszukiwaniu szczątków Ryszarda III. Swój nowy film zaprezentuje też Shekhar Kapur, autor „Elizabeth”. Ciekawe jaki będzie nowy film Petera Farrelly’ego, pierwszy po Oscarowym „Green Book”. Nowy film tego twórcy nosi tytuł „The Greatest Beer Run Ever”, jest dramatem wojennym i główne w nim role grają Zac Efron, Russell Crowe i Bill Murray. Nie zabraknie filmów z Cannes, w tym „W trójkącie” Rubena Ostlunda i „Holy Spider”
Festiwal w Toronto bardzo trafnie wskazuje na faworytów Oscarów. W jego historii debiutowało tutaj wiele tytułów, które później zdobywały cenne nagrody.
