[SEZON NAGRÓD 2022/2023] Ogłoszono nominacje do pierwszych znaczących nagród filmowych podsumowujących kino w USA. Gotham Awards skupiają się na filmach niezależnych, ale już otwierają drogę do między innymi Oscarów. Najwięcej nominacji do tych nagród zdobył film „Tar”.
Film „Tar” z Cate Blanchett zdobył pięć nominacji do Gotham Awards, w tym za najlepszy film, rolę Blanchett, scenariusz i dwie role drugoplanowe. Cztery nominacje zdobył film „Aftersun”, a „Everything Everywhere All At Once”, „The Inspection” i „Women Talking” mają po trzy nominacje. „Tár”, „Aftersun” i „Everything Everywhere All At Once” zabiegają o nagrodę dla najlepszego filmu, a w kategorii tej znalazły się także „The Cathedral” i „Dos Estaciones”. Filmy A24 otrzymały 15 nominacji.
Organizatorzy nagród połączyli kategorie doceniające aktorki i aktorów i już nie nominują ze względu na płeć. Nominacje do nagród są wybierane przez krytyków filmowych i telewizyjnych, dziennikarzy, programerów festiwali i kuratorów filmowych. Odrębne jury składające się ze scenarzystów, reżyserów, aktorów, producentów, montażystów i inne osoby bezpośrednio zaangażowane w tworzenie filmów wskażą zdobywców nagród. Laureatów poznamy 28 listopada.
W latach poprzednich laureaci Gotham Awards zdobywali Oscary i wśród zdobywców obu wyróżnień znalazły się takie filmy: „Nomadland”, „Marriage Story”, „American Factory”, „Moonlight”, „Spotlight” i „Birdman”.
