„Sight and Sound” od 1992 roku uzupełnia swoją listę filmów wszech czasów ułożoną głównie z głosów krytyków, drugim zestawieniem najlepszych filmów, które powstało dzięki głosom oddanym przez zaproszonych twórców filmowych. W tym drugim głosowaniu w 2022 roku najlepszym filmem wszech czasów jest „2001: Odyseja kosmiczna”. I zdecydowanie ta lista podoba mi się bardziej.
W 1992 roku w głosowaniu wzięło udział 101 twórców, dekadę później było ich już 358, a tegoroczne zestawienie powstało dzięki zaangażowaniu 480 reżyserów/reżyserek, autorów filmów głównego nurtu, niezależnych, eksperymentalnych, studyjnych i gatunkowych.
I zdecydowanie lista stworzona przez 480 twórców filmowych (w komunikatach podkreślane jest, że to tylko reżyserzy/reżyserki) wygląda bardziej okazale, unika poprawności politycznej, oddaje hołd pominiętym przez krytyków mistrzom i ich wpływowym dziełom. Są i tutaj filmy reżyserek, są filmy twórców czarnych i wykluczonych, ale zdecydowanie zestawienie to zauważa wiele z dzieł, które nie powinny być pominięte.
Ranking wygrało dzieło Stanleya Kubricka „2001: Odyseja kosmiczna”, tuż za nim „Obywatel Kane”, a trzeci na liście jest „Ojciec chrzestny”. W zestawieniu jest film Romana Polańskiego „Chinatown”, druga część „Ojca chrzestnego” i w sumie cztery filmy Coppoli, jest wiele filmów Kurosawy, Bergmana, Tarkowskiego, Felliniego, Bressona, Dreyera, Scorsese, Lyncha. Są trzy filmy Abbasa Kiarostamiego, a nawet film jego rodaka Asghara Farhadiego. To dopiero na tej liście pojawiły się „Lawrence z Arabii” Davida Leana, „Łowca androidów” Ridleya Scotta i „Szczęki” Stevena Spielberga, które nie znalazły się w zestawieniu krytyków. Z nowych filmów na liście są „Moonlight” i „Parasite”.
