Ogłoszone zostały nominacje do głównych kategorii Critics Choice 2024. Rekordzistką nominacji okazała się „Barbie”, która ma ich aż 18. Żaden inny film w 29-letniej historii tych nagród nie zdobył większej liczby nominacji. Do tej pory to „Wszystko wszędzie naraz” i „Kształt wody” miały po 14 nominacji i było to rekordowe osiągnięcie.
„Barbie” na etapie nominacji nie ma sobie równych i przynosi szanse na nagrody m.in. za aktorskie popisy Margot Robbie, Ryana Goslinga i Ameriki Ferrery oraz trzy nominacje za piosenki. Do tego są oczywiście nominacje za najlepszy film, reżyserię (Greta Gerwig jedyną kobietą w tej kategorii), scenariusz, zdjęcia, obsadę, scenografię, kostiumy, montaż, charakteryzacja, najlepsza komedia, muzyka oryginalna.
„Oppenheimer” i „Biedne istoty” zajęły drugie miejsce z liczbą 13 nominacji każdy. O tytuł najlepszego filmu roku rywalizować będą także “American Fiction” (MGM), “The Color Purple” (Warner Bros.), “The Holdovers” (Focus Features), “Killers of the Flower Moon” (Apple Original Films/Paramount Pictures), “Maestro” (Netflix), “Past Lives” (A24), “Saltburn” (Amazon MGM Studios). Bardzo jest to więc fajna lista, będąca podsumowaniem mijającego roku.
Nie ma na liście najlepszych filmów roku dwóch zagranicznych produkcji, które podobają się krytykom i zostały dostrzeżone podczas Złotych Globów. „Anatomia upadku” zdobyła trzy nominacje, w tym dwie aktorski i dla najlepszego filmu zagranicznego. W tej ostatniej kategorii jest też brytyjsko-polska „Strefa interesów” w reżyserii Jonathana Glazera i wyprodukowana między innymi przez Ewę Puszczyńską. Oba te filmy będą miały ciekawą konkurencję, bo są tutaj także: japońskie „Perfect Days” w reżyserii Wima Wendersa, jest francuski „Bulion i inne namiętności”, jest hiszpański „Śnieżne bractwo” oraz dość niespodziewanie „Godzilla Minus One”.
Wśród pełnometrażowych animacji nie ma „Chłopów” i nie do końca wiadomo, jaki jest status polskiego filmu na kilka dni przed skróconymi listami do Oscarów. Tam pojawi się lista 10 tytułów więc szanse są większe, ale niepokoi, że polskiego kandydata do Oscara nie ma praktycznie na żadnej liczącej się liście z nagrodami podsumowującymi mijający rok. Nominacje do Critics Choice zdobyły m.in. „Chłopiec i czapla”, „Elemental” i „Wish” od Disneya, „Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”, „Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” oraz „Nimona” od Netflixa.
