Swoje doroczne nominacje do swoich ogłosiła Screen Actors Guild (Gildia Aktorów Ekranowych). To jedne z najbardziej prestiżowych wyróżnień w branży amerykańskiej. Nagrody SAG mają więcej wspólnego z Oscarami niż wiele innych wyróżnień. W tym roku na czele nominacji „Barbie” i „Oppenheimer” w kinie oraz „Sukcesja” w serialach.
Kluczem do Oscarowych porównań jest nominacja w kategorii doceniającej całą obsadę filmu. To filmy, które niemal na pewno znajdą się w gronie najlepszych filmów roku. I mamy tutaj na liście naprawdę duże filmy, z „Barbie”, „Oppenheimerem” i „Czasem krwawego księżyca” na czele. „Barbie” i „Oppenheimer” otrzymały po cztery nominacje, ale w bezpośrednim starciu zmierzą się tylko w kategorii Obsada i Aktor Drugoplanowy. Kategorię Obsada uzupełniają jeszcze filmy “American Fiction” i “The Color Purple”.
Zwycięzca tej kategorii ma dużą szansę na wygranie głównego Oscara. Bardzo też często nominacje SAG pokrywają się z nominacjami do Oscarów w poszczególnych aktorskich kategoriach. Nie ma też niespodzianek na listach nominacji tegorocznych, bo znaleźli się tutaj faworyzowani już od dłuższego czasu m.in. Bradley Cooper, Paul Giamatti, Cillian Murphy, Jeffrey Wright (najlepszy aktor), Lily Gladstone, Margot Robbie i Emma Stone (najlepsza aktorka), Robert Downey Jr., Ryan Gosling i dość niespodziewanie Robert De Niro (aktorzy drugoplanowi), Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Emily Blunt i też dość niespodziewanie Penelope Cruz.
W kategoriach telewizyjnych aż pięć nominacji dobyła „Sukcesja”, a po cztery nominacje dla seriali „Ted Lasso”, „The Bear” i „The Last of Us”, które zdobyły po cztery nominacje. W tych kategoriach obowiązuje podział na komedie i dramaty.
Warner Bros. Discovery otrzymało najwięcej nominacji i ma ich aż 20. Na kolejnym miejscu uplasował się Netflix z 12 nominacjami i Apple z 11 nominacjami.
Czy SAG Awards dobrze przewidują Oscary? w zeszłym roku czterech wykonawców, którzy zdobyli nagrody SAG – Brendan Fraser, Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan i Jamie Lee Curtis – zdobyło Oscary za swoje prace. Od chwili powstania w 1995 roku tylko cztery filmy zdobyły Oscara za najlepszy film bez nominacji SAG za zespół aktorski: „Braveheart” (1995), „Kształt wody” (2017), „Green Book” (2018). i „Nomadland” (2020).
30. doroczna ceremonia wręczenia nagród Screen Actors Guild będzie po raz pierwszy w tym roku transmitowana na żywo na całym świecie w serwisie Netflix 24 lutego 2024 roku.
