W życiu Aminą dominuje poczucie straty i to na wielu poziomach. Bohater musiał brutalnie wkroczyć w dorosłość i przez ponad 20 lat tłumił w sobie traumatyczne doświadczenia. Dziś, jako niespełna czterdziestolatek, odnosi sukcesy nauce jako naukowiec i planuje ślub ze swoim długoletnim partnerem. Amin postanawia zdradzić prawdę o sobie w filmie, ale nie jest gotowy, żeby stanąć oko w oko z kamerą, dlatego reżyser Jonas Poher Rasmussen (jego dawny szkolny kolega) postanowił sięgnąć po animację. Tłumione do tej pory wspomnienia tworzą poruszającą historię, w której granice czasu i przestrzeni ulegają zatarciu. Znaleźć w niej można liczne paralele ze współczesnością. Film jest fascynujący nie tylko pod względem unikalnej formy, ale również niezwykle bliskiej relacji bohatera z reżyserem.
Film wygrał tegoroczny festiwal Docs Against Gravity. Jest duńskim kandydatem do Oscara i ma szanse na nominacje w kategoriach film międzynarodowy, dokumentalny i animowany. O tytuł najlepszego dokumentu podczas Cinema Eye Honors będzie rywalizował „Summer of Soul”, ”Ascension“, ”Faya Dayi“, “The Velvet Underground” i “The Rescue”.
Mnie bardzo ciekawi kategoria Heterdocs, honorująca filmy na granicy dokumentu i fabuły. O nagrodę tutaj będą rywalizowały “The Souvenir Part II”, “Bo Burnham: Inside”, “A Cop Movie”, “The Inheritance” i “El Planeta”.
