Toronto zachwyca programem. Nie tylko Holland

Program pokazów głównych/galowych/specjalnych 50. Międzynarodowego Festiwalu Filmowego w Toronto to praktycznie zestawienie najważniejszych i najbardziej oczekiwanych premier 2025/2026, które ubiegać będą się o nagrody filmowe tegorocznego sezonu. Nazwiska twórców, którzy w Toronto pokażą swoje najnowsze filmy robi oczywiście spore wrażenie, a organizatorzy przedstawili już ponad 50 propozycji. Jest w tym gronie „Franz Kafka” Agnieszki Holland.

W ostatnich dniach organizatorzy festiwalu w Toronto dodali do programu kilkadziesiąt kolejnych filmów. Są w tym gronie m.in. „Frankenstein” Guillermo del Toro, „Ballad of a Small Player” Edwarda Bergera, „Driver's Ed” Bobby'ego Farrelly'ego, „Glenrothan” Briana Coxa, „Dead Man's Wire” Gusa Van Santa, „Nouvelle Vague” Richarda Linklatera i „EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert” Baza Luhrmanna. Wcześniej Toronto podało, że w programie festiwalu znajdą się także: „Hamnet” Chloé Zhao ze zdjęciami Łukasza Żala, „Roofman” Dereka Cianfrance’a, „The Christophers” Stevena Soderbergha, „Franz Kafka” Agnieszki Holland, „The Lost Bus” Paula Greengrassa i „Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” Riana Johnsona.

Ponad 30 z nowo zapowiedzianych filmów będzie miało w Toronto swoje światowe premiery. Wśród nich znajdą się: „Driver's Ed” z Kumailem Nanjianim i Samem Nivolą; „Fuze” Davida Mackenziego z Aaronem Taylorem Johnsonem i Theo Jamesem; „Norymberga” Jamesa Vanderbilta z Ramim Malekiem i Russellem Crowe; „Bad Apples” Jonatana Etzlera z Saoirse Ronan; „Christy” Davida Michôda z Sydney Sweeney; „Couture” Alice Winocour z Angeliną Jolie; oraz „Sacrifice” Romaina Gavrasa z Anyą Taylor-Joy i Chrisem Evansem. I te filmy ominą zapewne konkurs główny w Wenecji

Bo oznaczenie filmów przez organizatorów Toronto FF mówi też sporo o tym, co może wydarzyć się w Wenecji i Telluride. W Toronto będą więc miały swoje kanadyjskie i/lub północnoamerykańskie premiery takie filmy, jak m.in „Frankenstein” i „The Smashing Machine” Benny’ego Safdiego – oba te filmy na pewno trafią do Wenecji; a także „Hamnet”, „Ballad of a Small Player” i „Tuner” Daniela Rohera. Można się domyślać, że tytuły te mogą pojawić się na festiwalu w Wenecji. Przy „Franzu Kafce” zapis brzmi „premiera światowa”, co sugeruje, że film ten nie pojawi się w konkursie głównym festiwalu w Wenecji.

W Toronto pojawi się też sporo filmów, które miały już swoje światowe premiery, między innymi w Cannes, ale podczas kanadyjskiego festiwalu rozpoczynają swoją drogę do Oscarów lub po prostu drogę do kin całego świata. Są w tym gronie m.in.: „Train Dreams” Clinta Bentleya, nagrodzony Złotą Palmą „It Was Just an Accident” Jafara Panahiego (pokazywany obecnie na Nowych Horyzontach we Wrocławiu), nagrodzony Grand Prix „Sentimental Value” Joachima Triera, „Eleanor the Great” Scarlett Johansson  oraz znane już z Wrocławia „Nouvelle Vague” Richarda Linklatera) i „The Secret Agent” Klebera Mendonçy Filho.

Na liście znalazło się także kilka dokumentów, w tym m.in. „Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery” Ally Pankiw, „You Had to Be There: How the Toronto Godspell Ignited the Comedy Revolution…” Nicka Davisa, „Degrassi: Whatever It Takes” Lisy Rideout i nowy film Baza Luhrmanna, który po hicie „Elvis” przygotowuje dokument „EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert”, będący połączeniem występów koncertowych, materiałów zza kulis i refleksji Elvisa.

Festiwal otworzy film dokumentalny Colina Hanksa „John Candy: I Like Me”. Na zamknięcie zostanie zaprezentowany „Peak Everything” Anne Émond, dobrze przyjęta w Cannes kanadyjska czarna komedia. Festiwal odbędzie się w dniach 4–14 września 2025 r. Poniżej lista dodanych filmów do festiwalu w Toronto, wraz z ich premierowym statusem (* oznaczono filmy wcześniej podane do publicznej wiadomości). To jeszcze nie koniec zapowiedzi festiwalu w Toronto, ciekawe czy przebije się tam jakaś inna polska produkcja/koprodukcja.
