Amerykańska Akademia Sztuki i Wiedzy Filmowej przedstawiła szerokie listy kandydatów do Oscarów w trzech kategoriach – Pełnometrażowy Film Animowany, Pełnometrażowy Film Dokumentalny, Film Międzynarodowy. Na wszystkich są polskie produkcje. Spośród przedstawionych filmów wytypowane zostaną tytuły, które znajdą się wkrótce na skróconych listach kandydatów do Oscarów, a to one poprzedzają nominacje do najważniejszych nagród filmowych na świecie.
W dniach 14-18 grudnia Akademia Filmowa będzie wybierała filmy, które przejdą przez pierwszy bardzo ważny etap głosowania na Oscary. Skrócone listy kandydatów do Oscarów w dziesięciu kategoriach zostaną ogłoszone 21 grudnia 2023 roku.
Akademia ujawniła oficjalnie tylko trzy szerokie listy kandydatów do Oscarów, ale na wszystkich tych listach znajdują się polskie produkcje/koprodukcje. Nieoficjalnie wczoraj pisałem o liście z filmami z najlepszymi efektami wizualnymi.
W kategorii poświęconej pełnometrażowym filmom animowanym znajdują się „Chłopi” w reżyserii DK Welchman i Hugh Welchmana. Konkurencja jest spora, bo na szerokiej liście są 33 tytuły, w tym kilka bardzo znanych, cenionych i popularnych produkcji. Spore jest też grono produkcji spoza USA, do którego zaliczają się nasi „Chłopi”. Akademia w ostatnich latach kieruje swój wzrok na duże amerykańskie filmy, ale nie przejdzie zapewne obojętnie obok nowej produkcji Hayao Miyazakiego ze Studia Ghibli. Za „Chłopami” przemawia na pewno Oscarowy sukces „Twojego Vincenta”, poprzedniej produkcji państwa Welchmanów. Wśród głównych faworytów do Oscara jest na pewno „Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”.
„Chłopi” są też na szerokiej liście kandydatów w kategorii Film Międzynarodowy i oficjalnie Akademia podała, że o Oscara tego zabiega 88 produkcji. To nieco mniej niż w ostatnich latach, ale i tak w zestawieniu znajduje się wiele bardzo dużych międzynarodowych produkcji. Silnych kandydatów wystawiły do Oscarowych zmagań kinematografie: Estonii („Siostrzeństwo świętej sauny”), Finlandii („Opadające liście”), Francji („Bulion i inne namiętności”), Niemiec („The Teachers’ Lounge”), Włoch („Il capitano”), Japonii („Perfect Days” Wima Wendera, który wśród dokumentów ma też film „Anselm”), Meksyku („Totem”), Hiszpanii („Śnieżne bractwo”), Tunezji („Cztery córki”), Turcji („About Dry Grasses”), Ukrainy („20 Days in Mariupol”) i Wielkiej Brytanii. Ta ostatnia kinematografia będzie reprezentowana przez „Strefę interesów” Jonathana Glazera, koprodukcję zrealizowaną z polskim udziałem. Mamy też swój udział w powstaniu reprezentanta z Macedonii Północnej, filmu “Housekeeping for Beginners”.
Wśród 88 międzynarodowych kandydatur dominują filmy fabularne, ale są też pełnometrażowe animacje (takiego kandydata mają na przykład Węgrzy), jest też dużo pełnometrażowych filmów dokumentalnych z „Czterema córkami”, „Siostrzeństwem świętej sauny” oraz norweską „Pieśnią Ziemi” na czele.
Na szerokiej liście pełnometrażowych filmów dokumentalnych jest znacznie ciaśniej, bo o skróconą listę a potem nominacje i Oscara zabiega aż 167 produkcji z całego świata. To corocznie jest bardzo duża lista filmów i regularnie znajdują się na niej polskie produkcje/koprodukcje. Pisałem o tym kilkukrotnie więc dziś tylko odnotuję, że na liście są „Apolonia, Apolonia” duńsko-polska koprodukcja w reżyserii Lei Glob, jest też „Skąd dokąd” Maćka Hameli oraz „Pianoforte” Jakub Piątka. Wszystkie te filmy prowadzą obecnie działania promocyjne , aby zwiększyć swoje szanse na Oscara.
O tym, czy któreś z polskich filmów znajdą się na skróconych listach kandydatów do Oscarów przekonamy się 21 grudnia. 23 stycznia 2024 roku ogłoszone zostaną nominacje, a 10 marca wręczone zostaną Oscary.
