Writers Guild of America (WGA) opublikowało ranking najlepszych scenariuszy filmowych powstałych w XXI wieku. Jak to w przypadku takich zestawień, sporo tutaj zastanawiających decyzji. Na pierwszym miejscu scenariusz do filmu „Uciekaj!” i decyzja ta bardzo mnie zaskoczyła.
Na liście WGA jest wiele znakomitych prac i zdecydowanie ciekawszych od „Uciekaj!” (w mojej ocenie). Ja wiem, że są fani tej opowieści, że jest ona na swój sposób oryginalna i ciekawie odwraca role oraz bawi się gatunkiem i jest trafnym komentarzem społecznym, ale… nie aż tak wybitnym. Nie przepadam za tym filmem, wiele razy o tym pisałem. Jordan Peele zdobył za scenariusz „Uciekaj!” Oscara, ale dla mnie to zawsze była decyzja polityczna i związana z poprawnością polityczną. Tych scenariuszy z Oscarami jest w czołówce listy więcej, bo są tutaj m.in. „The Social Network” Aarona Sorkina, „To nie jest kraj dla starych ludzi” braci Coen, a przede wszystkim na piątym miejscu „Parasite” Joon-ho Bonga.
W czołówce jest też kilka świetnych scenariuszy, które ja doceniam szczególnie, w tym „Aż poleje się krew” Paula Thomasa Andersona, „Bękarty wojny” Quentina Tarantino czy „Memento” Christophera Nolana. Anderson i Tarantino mają po trzy scenariusze na tej liście, kilkukrotnie pojawiają się tutaj jeszcze prace Charliego Kaufmana, Aarona Sorkina i Wesa Andersona.
Inne z ciekawszych i cennych scenariuszy w zestawieniu to m.in. „Tajemnica Brokeback Mountain” (13), „Ludzkie dzieci” (18), „Między słowami” (19), „Obiecująca Młoda Kobieta” (23), „Mroczny rycerz” (26), „W głowie się nie mieści” (29) oraz kilka innych świetnych animacji Pixara, „Incepcja” (37), „Mullholland Drive” (41), „Na noże” (49), niemieckie „Życie na podsłuchu” (52), „Manchester by the Sea” (2016), irańskie „Rozstanie” (66), „Władca Pierścieni: Drużyna Pierścienia” (76), „Lobster” (81), „Borat” (93) i "Poradnik pozytywnego myślenia" (101).
