Nominacje do swoich dorocznych nagród ogłosiła Gildia Reżyserów
Amerykańskich. W głównych kategoriach nie ma niespodzianek, za to w nowej
kategorii doceniającej debiuty reżyserskie jest kilka ciekawych nominacji.
Główne nominacje otrzymali Alejandro G. Inarritu za „Zjawę”,
Tom McCarthy za „Spotlight”, Adam McKay za „Big Short”, George Miller za „Mad
Max: Na drodze gniewu” oraz Ridley Scott za „Marsjanina”. W tym gronie tylko
Inarritu ma nagrodę Gildii, którą otrzymał za „Birdmana”. Scott zdobył swoją
czwartą nominację, a pozostali reżyserzy docenieni zostali po raz pierwszy.
Po raz pierwszy przyznano też nominacje dla debiutujących
reżyserów. Wśród docenionych znalazł się Joel Edgerton, popularny aktor, ale
tym razem twórca filmu „The Gift”. Doceniono też Alexa Garlanda za „Ex Machina”,
a przede wszystkim węgierskiego reżysera Laszlo Nemesa za „Syna Szawła”.

He won the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Commercials for
“Best Job” (Procter & Gamble) in 2012.
