Nominacje do tegorocznych nagród
ciekawa. W 2018 roku Netflix zakończył 18-letnią dominację HBO i zdobył większą
liczbę nominacji (112:108). Przed rokiem HBO odzyskało koronę, dzięki „Grze o
tron” zdobywając rekordową w historii liczbę 137 nominacji do Emmy. Netfix w
2019 roku miał nominacji 117. W tym roku streamingowy gigant po raz drugi w
historii pokonał swojego wieloletniego konkurenta. I pomyśleć, że w 2013 roku
Netflix miał tylko 13 nominacji do Emmy. Jeśli chodzi o wygrane, to przed
rokiem HBO zdobyło 37 nagród, a Netflix 27. W 2018 roku był remis i obaj
producenci mieli po 23 zwycięstwa.
Jednak to HBO może się pochwalić
produkcją, która zdobyła indywidualnie najwięcej nominacji. 26 z nich otrzymał
serial „Watchmen”, który konkuruje w kategoriach dramatycznych. Wśród komedii
najwięcej nominacji otrzymała produkcja Amazona „Wspaniała pani Maisel”, która
ma ich 20. W dramacie świetnie poradziły sobie też „Ozark” (Netflix) i „Sukcesja”
(HBO) zdobywając po 18 nominacji. Piąte miejsce na liście dotyczącej liczby
zdobytych nominacji zajął serial debiutującej platformy Disney+ zatytułowany „Mandalorian”,
który otrzymał ich 15. Tyle samo, co: „Saturday Night Live” i „Schitt’s Creek”.
Generalnie Netflix triumfuje i
spora w tym zasługa także pandemii, dzięki której notowane jest zwiększenie
zainteresowanie ofertą tego dostawcy. „Ozark” z 18 nominacjami to najczęściej
nominowany do Emmy program w tym roku. Świetnie poradziły sobie także: „The
Crown” (13), „Hollywood” (12), „Stranger Things” (8), „Unorthodox” (8). HBO ma
jeszcze jedną przewagę nad Netfliksem. 107 nominacji HBO wygenerowały jedynie
21 produkcji. 160 nominacji Netfliksa wypracowane zostało przez 52 różne
programy.
Jest kilka niespodzianek i ciekawostek związanych z tegorocznymi nominacjami do Emmy. Reese Whiterspoon może czuć się rozczarowana. Aktorka wystąpiła w trzech dużych serialowych produkcjach ("Big Little Lies" - HBO, "The Morning Show" - Apple i "Little Fires Everywhere" - Amazon), ale nie zdobyła aktorskiej nominacji, a jedynie jedną za produkcję. Po raz pierwszy od 11 lat nominację aktorską otrzymała Jennifer Aniston (za "The Morning Show"). Serial "Co robimy w ukryciu" wraz z drugim sezonem włączył się do gry o najważniejsze nagrody Emmy i zdobył 8 nominacji. Akademia Telewizyjna pominęła w nominacjach rolę Russella Crowe w serialu "The Laudest Voices", za którą aktor otrzymał Złoty Glob. Nominację za kilkuminutowy występ otrzymał też Brad Pitt.

Laureatów nagród poznamy w kilku
etapach. 12 i 13 września ogłoszeni zostaną zdobywcy nagród Creative Arts.
Główne rozdanie Emmy zaplanowano na 20 września, będzie emitowane na antenie
ABC a galę poprowadzi Jimmy Kimmel.
