[SEZON NAGRÓD 2017/2018] Visual Effects Society Awards (Stowarzyszenie Twórców Efektów Wizualnych) ogłosiło nominacje do swoich dorocznych nagród. Liderami nominacji są „Blade Runner 2049”, „Wojna o Planetę Małp” i „Gra o tron”.
„Blade Runner 2049” i „Wojna o Planetę Małp” otrzymały po
siedem nominacji, w tym w najważniejszej kategorii doceniającej produkcje
kinowe. W tej kategorii doceniono też: „Strażników galaktyki vol. 2” (trzy
nominacje), „Kong: Wyspa Czaszki” (cztery nominacje), „Gwiezdne wojny: Ostatni
Jedi” (cztery nominacje). W kategorii dotyczącej produkcji, w których efekty
wizualne odgrywają drugoplanową rolę nominacje otrzymały: „Dunkierka”, „Czas
mroku”, „Pomniejszenie”, „mother!” i „Only the Brave”. „Gru, Dru i Minionki”
otrzymały pięć nominacji i jest to rekord wśród filmów animowanych. W telewizji
rządzi „Gra o tron” z 11 nominacjami.
W ostatnich 10 latach sześciokrotnie laureat głównej nagrody
Stowarzyszenia otrzymywał potem Oscara za efekty wizualne. W 2011 roku
„The Shape of Water” i „Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets”). W 2016
najważniejszej kategorii, to „Wojna o Planetę Małp” powstała w WETA, „Ostatni
Jedi” i „Wyspa Czaszki” to Industrial Light & Magic, a „Dunkierka” to Double
Negative. „Blade Runner 2049” i „Strażnicy galaktyki vol. 2” to współpraca
