Amerykańska Akademia Sztuki i Wiedzy Filmowej ogłosiła oficjalne listy produkcji zgłoszonych i ubiegających się o tegoroczne Oscary w kategoriach: Film Międzynarodowy, Pełnometrażowy Film Animowany i Pełnometrażowy Film Dokumentalny. W każdej z nich mamy polskiego kandydata.
W gronie oficjalnych kandydatów do Oscarów znajdują się: „Śniegu już nigdy nie będzie” Małgorzaty Szumowskiej i Michała Englerta (film międzynarodowy), animacja Mariusza Wilczyńskiego „Zabij to i wyjedź z tego miasta” oraz dokument „Lekcja miłości” w reżyserii Kasi Matei i Małgorzaty Goliszewskiej.
PEŁNOMETRAŻOWY FILM MIĘDZYNARODOWY
93 kraje przeszły pomyślnie weryfikację i oficjalnie zostały zakwalifikowane do ubiegania się nominację w kategorii Pełnometrażowy Film Międzynarodowy. Warunkiem udziału w tych zmaganiach była realizacja filmu o czasie trwania powyżej 40 minut, wyprodukowanego poza USA, zawierającego ponad 50 procent nieanglojęzycznych dialogów. Po raz pierwszy w historii o Oscara w tej kategorii będą rywalizowały filmy z Lesoto, Sudanu i Surinamu. Wkrótce poznamy skróconą listę 15 kandydatów do nominacji, w wyborze tym mogą brać udział wszyscy członkowie Akademii.
Na szerokiej liście kandydatów polską kinematografię reprezentuje „Śniegu już nigdy nie będzie” Małgorzaty Szumowskiej i Michała Englerta, obraz współprodukowany przez firmę Lava Films, reprezentowaną przez Mariusza Włodarskiego i Agnieszkę Wasiak.
Mamy też w tej kategorii sporo innych rodzimych koprodukcji. Bośnię i Hercegowinę reprezentuje „Aida” w reżyserii Jasmili Zbanić, współproducentką której jest Ewa Puszczyńska. Czesi wystawili „Szarlatana” w reżyserii Agnieszki Holland z muzyką Antoniego Komasy-Łazarkiewicza. Grecką kinematografię reprezentuje „Niepamięć” (Apples/Mila), który wsparty został także przez firmę Lava Films i Mariusza Włodarskiego, a do którego zdjęcia zrobił Bartosz Świniarski. Wszystkie te filmy powstały przy wsparciu Polskiego Instytutu Sztuki Filmowej.

PEŁNOMETRAŻOWY FILM ANIMOWANY
27 filmów zabiega o nominacje i Oscara dedykowanego pełnometrażowym filmom animowanym. Niektóre z filmów nie spełniły jeszcze wszystkich punktów regulaminu kwalifikującego, ale Akademia ufa, że tak się stanie i wszystkie produkcje będą podlegać procesowi głosowania. Pełnometrażowe animacje mogą też ubiegać się o Oscara w innych kategoriach, także w kategorii Najlepszy Film.
W gronie pełnometrażowych animacji jest sporo produkcji z Hollywood z faworyzowanymi dziś filmami Pixara. Jednak większość to realizacje międzynarodowe, spoza USA, animacje o walorach artystycznych (jak chociażby piękne „WolfWalkers”). W tym gronie jest też animacja Mariusza Wilczyńskiego zatytułowana „Zabij to i wyjedź z tego miasta”. Ten niezwykły i bardzo osobisty film, debiut pełnometrażowy cenionego artysty, doceniony został m.in. nagrodą na festiwalu w Annecy i otrzymał Złote Lwy zeszłorocznego Festiwalu Polskich Filmów Fabularnych w Gdyni. Ze strony Akademii byłaby to wielka odwaga, gdyby dostrzegła ona tak nietypową i bardzo artystyczną produkcję. Jedną z producentek filmu jest także Ewa Puszczyńska.

PEŁNOMETRAŻOWY FILM DOKUMENTALNY
238 filmów zakwalifikowało się do rywalizacji o nominacje i Oscara dla pełnometrażowych dokumentów, kilka z nich jest też na liście filmów międzynarodowych. W tej kategorii członkowie Sekcji Dokumentalnej przy Akademii, przeprowadzą głosowanie i wybiorą tytuły, które znajdą się na skróconej liście kandydatów.
W tak wielkim gronie dostrzegam
tylko jedną polską produkcję/koprodukcję. To „Lekcja miłości” zrealizowana przy
wsparciu HBO, dokument w reżyserii Kasi Matei i Małgorzaty Goliszewskiej.
Jest na szerokiej liście znacząca liczba tytułów, które są dostępne oficjalnie w przestrzeni internetowej w naszym kraju lub przewinęły się przez festiwale odbywające się w Polsce. Na liście kandydatów są laureaci między innymi Krakowskiego Festiwalu Filmowego oraz Docs Against Gravity.
